The name of my website; Budget Barbie, stems from an inside joke among friends that originated with my friends calling me the original housewife barbie.
Back in the late 90's I was a full time Mommy with three children under the age of 5. Being a full time wife and mother was what I was put on this earth to do. I was in my element! I loved cooking, baking, sewing, crafts and I had long blond hair and big green eyes. My friends jokingly dubbed me the Original Housewife Barbie... after the Barbie Doll that has done everything from being an astronaut to a doctor to a teacher, but never 'just a housewife.'
When I decided to share some of my crafts, product reviews, shopping codes and DIY projects online I used a play on my Housewife Barbie nickname and thus, Budgetbarbie.com was born!
I am a busy wife to one and mother to three. I married my high school sweetheart right after graduation and we moved to Southern California where he was attending school. Being frugal was an understatement; I remember having to turn around on a San Diego toll booth road because we couldn't come up with two quarters to pay the fare! As time went on we learned how to live well on very little and still keep those values to this day, 23 years later.
