I love coffee (much to the chagrin of my 25 year old self who despised it) but I had NO IDEA today was National Coffee Day until I heard two radio DJ's discussing it on the way to work. They didn't know about it either!!! Someone wished them Happy National Coffee Day and they were like, "What? Today?"
I'm pretty late but I'm in between getting home from work and heading to the school to do football team and concession stand duties. I was looking up the coffee information and found out many coffee shops are offering free coffee today.
Not ALL though so be sure to ask before you order so you aren't surprised by the bill!
Free Coffee at LaMar’s Donuts and Coffee – Get a free 12 ounce coffee on September 29th when presenting this free printable coupon at participating locations.
Dunkin’ Donuts – Stop by participating Dunkin’ Donuts and receive a free cup of coffee. The company will also donate a portion of their sales to several Special Olympic groups.
Boca Java – The ‘Net’s a buzz with rumors Boca Java is going to be having a “huge” deal on National Coffee Day. Make sure to check out the site or follow them on Twitter.
Bennett’s Fresh Roast – Bennett’s Fresh Roast, in Fort Myers, will be offering two of its most popular and expensive coffee roasts at discounted prices.

Sexy Costumes for Halloween? Plus Sizes too!
Our family discovered AmiClubWear about two years ago when looking for clear high heels for prom. Since then my oldest daughter has ordered from them many times, however, I had no idea they had costumes! Looking for some sexy costumes to dress up this Halloween season? Too sexy for me, but I bet some of my readers will love them and they have PLUS SIZES TOO!

My New Rugs! Royal Panel in Chocolate by Couristan Rugs
On Wednesday I had to run an errand after work and next to the office supply store is a store called "Tuesday Morning". I was browsing and came across 4 rugs that I really liked. Three were very 'traditional' looking and the fourth was more contemporary. I went home and thought about them but even at a very deep, deep discount, I still didn't want to spend the money. After thinking about them Friday night and waking Saturday morning realizing that if I was to go to the store and find they had been sold I would be disappointed, I realized that I really liked them well enough to go buy them. I had been looking for a rug in chocolate brown, black and cream with hints of burnt red for about a year now and these rugs met my criteria.
I'm happy to report that I came home with not one but TWO rugs. I got two matching - one is about 11.5' X 8.5' for the family room and the second is 7.5' X 5' which is perfect for our dining room. I found them on Amazon (see the link above!) and being frugal, I didn't pay the prices Amazon is selling them for, but I will be ordering the runner and small sized throw rugs from Amazon to put under the bar stools at the kitchen island and in front of the sink.
I'm so excited!

Your Free Bank Account May Not Be Free... Check the Details
One of the many bad things about an administration that is young, inexperienced, not fiscally responsible, likes to play up to the public and prone to knee jerk reactions is that some big 'changes' in the last year and a half haven't been well thought out and will have long lastly negative repercussions, some of which will continue to come to light over the next 2, 3 or 4 years as we deal with the fall out of poorly made federal decisions.
In August, the Card Act banned a variety of fees that includes certain overdraft and excessive late charges. But just like I talked about in my credit card post, now banks are increasing existing fees and finding creative new ways to charge customers more for credit cards, so-called "free" checking accounts and banking services.
Have you noticed new fees or increased fees on your bank statements?
Already this year cash-advance fees and balance transfer fees have risen to 4%, up from 3% in July last year, according to a study conducted by the Pew Health Group's Safe Credit Cards Project.
I found this news article this morning while I was sipping my morning coffee that summed up a few fees to be on the watch for from some major banking institutions;
"It's like you've got a sinking boat, where you plug one hole and another one springs up," said Curtis Arnold, founder of CreditRatings.com. "You can shut down one egregious fee, but that doesn't mean other fees aren't just going to start popping up elsewhere."
Here's a bank-by-bank look of what to expect.
Bank of America: Just last week, Bank of America said it plans to raise minimum balance requirements over the next 12 months and charge a monthly account fee for customers who can't maintain those balances.
"We currently estimate over time through these and other items we are working on that we will have the ability to offset a substantial majority of the revenue from the various regulatory changes," Bank of America (BAC, Fortune 500) CEO Brian Moynihan said in a presentation to investors last week.
Customers enrolled in the lender's new eBanking checking account will be charged $8.95 per month if they opt to receive paper statements and visit tellers instead of banking online. Since the launch of eBanking in August, nearly half of all new checking accounts fall into this category.
Earlier this year, annual fees ranging from $29 to $99 were applied to a variety of Bank of America credit card accounts.
Wells Fargo: Remember how Wells Fargo (WFC, Fortune 500) fought a pitched battle with Citigroup for the right to merge with Wachovia? Well, Wachovia customers are now being fully integrated -- including being charged Wells' higher fees. Receive images of cancelled checks with your paper statement? $2. Use your savings as overdraft protection? $10 fee every time you make a transfer.
Previously, these fees already existed for Wells Fargo customers but were only applied to a very small number of Wachovia customers.
HSBC: HSBC (HBC) is charging a $19 annual fee for customers who open a line of credit beginning July 1 and an additional $10 every day they use the credit line as protection from overdrawing their checking account.
"This is not unusual in the industry and our competitors have been charging similar such fees for some time," an HSBC spokesman said. "The change aligns us with our competitors."
Other banks let customers link their savings and checking accounts as an alternative option for overdraft protection. But HSBC doesn't, meaning customers will either pay a fee to open a line of credit (if they have good enough credit to qualify), pay a fee for overdrafting their account or get their card declined.
Citibank: Citi (C, Fortune 500) announced changes to its checking accounts this month and will now assess monthly maintenance fees of up to $30, depending on the checking account and whether the customers meet certain requirements -- such as making a certain number of monthly transactions or carrying a specific minimum balance.
Monthly maintenance fees were previously as low as $3, depending on the account.
Earlier this year, Citi imposed a $60 annual fee that could be waived if customers spent about $2,400 a year. But the new regulations banning inactivity fees led the bank to eliminate the fee soon after it was introduced.
American Express: American Express (AXP, Fortune 500) has added $29 fees to more of its cards. As of July, the new fees affect customers with Delta, JetBlue, Hilton and Starwood cobranded cards who want to recoup reward points they forfeited for paying a bill late.
The point-forfeiture fee already existed on other cards, so the bank said it wanted to be "consistent and have it across cards."
Just as I reported in my article about credit card interest rates; fees are negotiable to some extent. Look over your bank account information and compare it to your statements from six months ago. Are you seeing new fees? Increased fees? Fees for something that was 'free' when you signed up for your account? Call and ask about them. You may be able to get a better deal by switching your account to a different bank but your current bank may agree to waive the fee to keep your business.

The Internet Can Be Your Best Friend for Good Deals

Just a couple years ago we went to visit my father-in-law and noticed he had new curtains in his living room and dining room. They were a basic plaid, sage green curtain but were the heavier, lined thermal style because his house is older and his window are not energy efficient.
We remarked on the curtains and I asked him where he got them, assuming he ordered them from a catalog as he had mentioned about 6 months earlier than he was going to. Imagine my shock and surprise when he remarked that he had a "woman in town" make them for him... for a cost of $1000! I was exasperated with my father-in-law but angry with this stranger that would take advantage of an elderly farmer the way she did. But... you can't tell my father-in-law anything so I had to bite my tongue. However, I can tell YOU dear readers that if you are looking for thermal curtains, Grommet Top Curtains, Door Panel Curtains or even a good Down Comforter Sale or holiday home decor, the internet has stores like BedBathStore that can save you hundreds of dollars more than my father-in-law did! They also have a clearance section, which as a frugal shopper should - be sure to check it out for great deals for your home, both inside and out.

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of BH Cosmetics. All opinions are 100% mine.
Being a Mom of two teen daughters there are a number of things our house has a lot of; clothing, shoes and makeup! Are you looking for radiant colors at an affordable price? Check out a company I just heard of today - BH Cosmetics.
I looked at their website and was amazed at how bright and brilliant their makeup palettes are! I specifically looked at their eyeshadow and immediately found an incredible budget friendly price as well as a huge assortment of highly pigmented colors - even though I was going for the 'neutral' look.
BH Cosmetics provides high quality products at a very low (below wholesale) prices! While big companies make big profits, BH Cosmetics give the savings back to you and sells low.

Now THAT is a Budget Wedding!
I regularly read the news from Europe and when I spied this article I knew it was probably one of the best 'budget friendly' wedding deals around! Check out this offer (only available in the UK);
The £199 wedding... Budget hotel chain offers UK's cheapest marriage package including bride and groom outfits and buffet reception
Couples worried about forking out thousands on their wedding can now get married at a budget hotel - for just £199.
The wedding, thought to be the cheapest ever for an entire package, has gone on offer for couples unable to afford the average bill of £21,000 - and even includes a best man's speech template.
The bargain basement deal - offered by hotel chain Premier Inn - also provides the bride's dress and groom's suit, confetti for the guests, a buffet reception for up to 20 guests and the wedding cake.
The newlyweds even get a two-night honeymoon at the venue, including dinner, bed and breakfast, sparkling wine, chocolates and the marital bed strewn with rose petals.
WHAT YOU GET FOR £199
And the happy couple do not even have to remember to bring their pyjamas as the hotel provides them nightwear from budget clothes shop Primark.
Guests at the reception will have to content themselves with just one alcoholic beverage over the course of the celebration, as will the bride and groom on each night of the honeymoon.
Just 10 couples will be able to take advantage of the offer, which is running at five hotels within the chain - Warrington, Swansea, Sheffield, Wigan and Barnsley - from November 1 to December 23.
But a spokeswoman insisted the deal would be extended if the hotel received positive feedback from wedding guests.
On the cheap: The honeymoon package includes two nights at a Premier Inn hotel, dinner and breakfast, a bottle of Asda sparkling wine, chocolates and strawberries and rose petals for the bed

Premier Inn spokesman Steve Conway said: 'A wedding day doesn't need to cost a fortune for it to be special.
'We hope that our bargain wedding package will help couples to have an enjoyable, romantic, stress-free day and a honeymoon that won't break the bank.'

Wooden Slats to Hide the Dirt Under the Deck
About a year and a half ago I told my husband I wanted to add wood under our deck to hide the dirt and underside. Just a simple row of boards similar to a fence. It would be quick, easy and best of all, cheap as I wanted to use dog eared cedar fencing.
I thought the dirt and sometimes weeds under the deck were ugly and it was a simple project we could do in just a couple hours.
He said... no. Granted, this was in part due to his personality. My husband is one to see every glass as 'half empty', every project as 'too difficult' and when he looks at a stick, he sees.... a stick. When I look at a stick I can see a hundred other uses for it. He also isn't one for projects, maintenance, repair. That's where I come in.
So... for over a year I thought about the wooden 'coverage' I wanted on our deck and I would bide my time.
Yesterday was THE DAY.
I once again broached the subject of the under-decking and this time told him exactly what I planned to do. I was going to get affordable dog eared cedar, cut them to size to the dirt and attach them to the brace board under the deck - just the front side behind the mums.
This time he listened. Not only that but offered to help and went to the hardware store willingly!
In the end I got my 'back board' under the deck!

12 foot of space to fill
We bought 12 (5 1/2" wide) dog eared cedar slats at $1.86 each
(we allowed extra boards in case some split while cutting or screwing. 8 would have been sufficient but this way we knew we wouldn't have to run to the store again)
We already had screws
We already had leftover stain from the deck
Cut the boards to 20 inches in length and attached them with two screws to the wide brace under the decking. I followed up with painting the boards with deck stain.
Project total: $22.77
Time: Less than 2 hours start to finish

Mulching to Preserve Soil Moisture and Improve the Look of the Landscaping
My husband has had the last two days off (most of us get weekends... he gets a random Tuesday or Thursday) and spent it catching up on a yard task that he doesn't particularly like, but one that adds to the overall look of the landscaping and yard; Mulching around our trees.
We have 15 trees and when first planted we used a small rubberized mulch made from tires that fit around the base. These were wonderful but our trees quickly outgrew them by the second season and for cost-cutting measures we switched to mulch.

As the tree's have grown over the past 2 seasons we've had to expand the circle of mulch around them which not only gives our landscape a finished look, it helps retain moisture in the soil around the tree.
Applying a layer of mulch 2-4 inches deep around trees and shrubshelps conserve soil moisture. Mulching will reduce the need for watering. Depending on your location, organic mulch such as finely chopped leaves or pine bark maybe available. Organic mulches also help to slow evaporation by keeping the soil cool. Adding composted manure and other organic matter also increases the water holding capacity of the soil, which is particularly critical for sandy soils.
Applying too much mulch around trees can restrict oxygen in the soil just like planting too deep. In heavy clay soils, thick layers of mulch may result in waterlogged soils. Mulch piled against the trunk may cause it to decay, allowing plant pathogens to enter and produce cankers. Mulch depths of 3” to 4” are adequate. Avoid piling mulch directly around the trunk. Taper the mulch depth around the trunk to about an inch or so.
At an average of $3.50 for a large bag of mulch which will do 2 medium sized trees, it's an affordable and budget friendly project that you can immediately see a return on.

Wet Seal Now Accepts PayPal
Last fall I brought you a list of clothing stores that accept PayPal. I am happy to report that this morning my daughter asked me if I could order her a track jacket she found on Wet Seals website. Looking at the jacket I spied a "NEW" option for payment; PayPal!
Yeah for Wet Seal!!!
And yes... my daughter got her jacket. As a matter of fact, based purely on the fact I could use my PayPal account and didn't have to dip into the family budget or credit card, I also ordered myself a jacket and a pair of black flats.
Wet Seal got my $70 order this morning ONLY because they accepted PayPal. Kudos Wet Seal.
