No Special Tools Needed - Hanging 2 rows of frames evenly
9.10.2008
I love the look of a wall of framed photos. I have this in my Living Room with two rows of espresso framed photographs of the children throughout the years. One of the frustrations of hanging frames when you have two or three rows of the same size prints is making sure they are hung evenly.
This past week when getting ready to hang 2 rows of framed photographs in the Family Room I was frustrated to see that my vertical line I thought was straight was in fact an inch off to the right. I didn't know where our yard stick was and the level (the stick with the liquid in the center and the little air bubble to make sure things are straight) was out in the garage. Instead I used what I already had in hand. A nail and a piece of string.
I looped the string around one of the nails and then around the top nail I wanted the bottom print to line up with. The string hung straight down and I was able to easily mark where the second nail would need to go.
Can you see it hanging? The string is attached to the top nail and the weight of the second nail on the bottom helps the string to stay taunt and straight - allowing me to mark the perfect spot for the second row of frames.Completely free... which is always frugal!
