Folger's Is Hoping You Don't Notice The Price Went Up and the Quantity Went Down

9.12.2008

Folger's Coffee has made their containers smaller with less coffee but the price went up!

Although I love my fresh ground coffee, the price of groceries does cause me to resort to supplementing with pre-ground store bought as well. After trying different kinds and styles as well debating the prices of those kinds I find that Folger's Columbian Medium or Dark roast is fairly good for an 'everyday' week day morning coffee or sometimes I use half Folger's and half fresh ground. Either way I'm saving money buy not having my fresh ground more expensive beans every day.

This week I picked up another container at the grocery store and was thinking "Hmmm, it looks different." But didn't give any more thought to it until I got home and placed it in the cupboard next to the other one.

Ah ha! They are different.

This week the PRICE of the coffee went up.
The quantity went DOWN.

Seems to be the American way doesn't it? Let's keep our million dollar salaries as CEO's of the company and screw the customer over. Let's do it secretly. I bet most won't notice.

Your container of Folger's used to be 34.5 oz.

It's now 27.8 oz.

You'll now be getting 240 small servings (because they oddly seem to count 6 oz. as a serving when most coffee mugs hold about 10-12 oz.!)

Two weeks ago your container of coffee would have given you 270 servings.

I think what irks me as well is that I've been seeing little flashing ads over a lot of websites this week for a dollar off coupon from them. $1 off coupon seemed pretty cool until I realized all they were doing is playing us for fools. "Hey, here is a dollar coupon because we love our customers and realize the economy is tight and we want to help!"

When in fact they really are hoping you don't notice that the price of their product went up $2 and you are getting almost a cup of grounds (7 oz.) less than you were a couple weeks ago when you bought the same thing.

*rolling my eyes*
