Yesterday on a whim I took on a project that involved painting. Once in a while if I'm doing a 'major' paint job I'll invest in the $.49 paint tray liners you can buy at the local hardware store, but 90% of the time I use something I already have in my house... for free. Plastic bags.
Between the grocery store and the discount stores like Walmart or Target we have a plethora of these bags; lucky for me I know a zillion and one ways to reuse them!
To use them as a paint tray liner:
- Turn the bag inside out so the ink is to the inside
- Slip the paint tray into the bag with the store image or log on the bottom of the tray, away from the paint
- Slip the ends of the bag over the paint tray handles in a criss cross pattern to hold it tightly in place
- If your tray does not have handles or it won't work, simply tie the ends in place or use masking tape to tape them under the tray
Fill and paint! When you are finished simply remove the plastic bag, flip inside out and tie it off to toss in the trash for easy clean up.
