Candy Coated Candy Canes

A cute gift that is yummy too are candy coated candy canes. Affordable and fun they not only make great gifts, but are a fun 'first' project for the younger crowds or a quick and easy holiday goody for you to make.

I like to use pure white candy canes when I use white candy coating just because I think it looks so pretty. But you use what you like! I was just at Target this week and I saw they have almost every color candy canes you could want, even blue and pink stripes!

1 package candy canes
1 package vanilla almond bark or white baking chips
sprinkles, non perils or colored sugar

Melt the candy coating either in a double broiler on the stove or in the microwave. Stir often and keep checking it constantly so it doesn't burn. As you stir the mixture it will melt quickly once it's started.

Dip and swirl just the curled end of a candy cane in the melted candy. Let it set for about 30-60 seconds and dip or sprinkle your chosen decorations on it.

Place it up right in a glass to hold it in place and allow it to 'set up' for an hour or two at least. Longer if it's in a very warm place such as a kitchen when you are doing a lot of holiday baking. Refrigerating them can make them set up quicker if you are in a hurry.

Cute idea; Cover with a clear cellophane bag and tie with a ribbon. Cute!!!
