Who Am I?

The name 'Budget Barbie' stems from an inside joke among friends years ago about how I was the original "housewife Barbie".

I started my recipe site in 2006 and used my nickname for the site. When I started my frugal shopping and household projects and decorating site the year after, I made a joke to my family during dinner that I was now going to be the "Budget Barbie" and a light bulb went off in my head and the name for my new site was born.

Who Am I? I'm currently a 38 40 year old housewife who in a previous life hobnobbed with state and city officials and 'gray suits' on a semi-regular basis at meetings, Expo's and business luncheons and the rest of the time helping local businesses to network, expand their business and expand their marketing potential. Now I'm an extremely happy and content - albeit too-busy - wife to my high school sweetheart and Mom to three awesome kids (17, 16 and 12).

Wow - this hadn't been updated since May of 2007. How much things have changed since then! In the Fall of 2008 I accepted a job offer and have been working at a non-profit historical museum for over two years now. Balancing a full time job on top of being a Mom to three active kids and running our household almost single-handedly keeps me on my toes and keeps me out of trouble. It does not, however, keep me in money! Note the 'non-profit' portion of my bio! It's a labor of love and some days I question my sanity but then again, with three kids, even a few extra nickles help.
